What is an Assignment?
A plain-language explanation of Assignments in Phygii.
Assignments Explained
An Assignment is an inspection form or survey template that your field team fills out at a location or project. Think of it as a structured checklist — it defines what needs to be documented, what questions need to be answered, and what images need to be captured.
How Assignments Are Structured
An assignment is made up of sections, and each section contains tasks. Each task may ask the field team to:
- Answer a question (multiple choice, text, number, etc.)
- Capture and upload one or more photos
- Mark a task as complete once work is done
Some tasks are marked as required, meaning the response cannot be considered complete until those tasks are finished.
Where Assignments Live
Assignments can be linked to three different levels in Phygii:
- Location — The assignment applies to a specific property.
- Project — The assignment is part of a defined scope of work at a location.
- Program — The assignment runs across all projects within a broader initiative.
You can access assignments from the Assignments section in the sidebar, or from the Assignments tab on a specific location, project, or program detail page.
Assignment Responses
Each time a field team member completes an assignment at a location or project, their submission is saved as an Assignment Response. You can review all responses for an assignment from the Responses tab on the assignment detail page.
Active and Inactive Assignments
Assignments can be set to active or inactive. Inactive assignments are no longer available for new responses but their historical data remains accessible.
