Creating and Managing Areas of Interest
A guide to creating and using Areas of Interest in Phygii.
What Is an Area of Interest?
An Area of Interest (AOI) is a polygon zone you draw on the map to highlight a specific region of a property — for example, a damaged section of a parking lot, a construction zone, or a particular wing of a building.
Creating an Area of Interest
There are two ways to create an AOI:
Option 1: Right-Click on the Map
- Right-click on the map at the starting point of the area you want to outline.
- Select New area of interest from the context menu.
- Click additional points on the map to draw the polygon boundary.
- When finished placing points, the creation dialog opens with the computed area and perimeter.
Option 2: Use the Tools Menu
- Activate the Area of Interest tool from the map tools menu.
- Click points on the map to draw your polygon.
- The tool displays a live readout of the total area (in square feet) and total distance (in feet) as you draw.
- When done, the creation dialog opens. The tool stays active so you can draw multiple areas in sequence.
Fields to Fill In
- Name (required) — A label for the area.
- Project (required) — Which project this AOI belongs to.
- Level (required) — The floor or level.
- Information (required) — A description of the area and why it was marked.
- Color — Pick from a palette of 15 preset colors for the polygon fill.
- Flagged — If checked, the area renders in red regardless of the chosen color.
- Tags — Optionally tag the area for filtering.
Viewing and Editing AOIs
AOIs appear as colored polygons on the map when the Areas of Interest layer is enabled. Click any AOI to view its details, area measurement, and attached comments. If you created the AOI, you can edit its fields.
